MyProf.mu – Privacy Policy

  • For Tutors: education and qualifications, subjects taught, experience, hourly rate, profile photo, bio, teaching preferences, languages spoken.

Booking & communication

  • Bookings, session details, messages between Students and Tutors, reviews and ratings, notes you choose to share about your learning goals.

Payment & billing

  • Partial payment details handled by our payment processors (card brand, last 4 digits, expiry month/year—never full card numbers or CVV).
  • Billing address, transaction IDs, subscription plan details.

Support interactions

  • Emails, support tickets, dispute documentation, feedback provided through forms.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Platform, we may automatically collect:

Usage data

  • Pages visited, clicks, features used, session duration, referring URLs.

Device and log data

  • IP address, browser type, OS, time zone, approximate location (city/country).

3.1 To Provide and Operate the Platform

  • Create and manage user accounts.
  • Enable Students to search for Tutors and book sessions.
  • Allow Tutors to manage availability, bookings, and earnings.
  • Deliver messaging, notifications, and reminders (e.g. session reminders).

3.2 To Process Payments

  • Facilitate secure payments from Students to Tutors.
  • Manage escrow, refunds, and payouts.
  • Prevent fraudulent transactions and misuse.

3.3 To Improve and Personalize the Platform

  • Analyze usage to improve features, performance, and UX.
  • Offer personalized recommendations (e.g. AI Tutor Matching).
  • Conduct surveys and gather feedback.

3.4 To Communicate With You

  • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, booking confirmations, payment receipts, password resets).
  • Inform you about important changes to the Platform, Terms, or policies.
  • With your consent, send marketing communications (you can opt out at any time).

  • When you book or accept bookings, certain profile details are visible:
    • Students see a Tutor's name, photo, bio, qualifications, ratings, and availability.
    • Tutors see a Student's name, level, subjects, and relevant booking details.
  • Reviews and ratings you leave may be public on Tutor profiles.

5.2 With Service Providers

We use trusted third parties to help us operate the Platform, including:

  • Cloud hosting providers (e.g. Vercel, Supabase).
  • Payment processors and banks (e.g. Stripe, local payment gateways).
  • Email delivery, SMS or push notification services.
  • Analytics, logging, and error monitoring tools.

These providers process data on our behalf under data processing agreements and are required to protect your data.

5.3 For Legal and Safety Reasons

We may disclose information if we reasonably believe it is necessary to:

  • Comply with law, regulation, or legal process.
  • Respond to lawful requests from authorities.
  • Protect the rights, property, or safety of MyProf, users, or the public.
